The Client Lima Engineering The Problem A Secondary containment bund required a tough, chemically resistant seamless coating to comply with Environment Agency instructions in 2003. The client could not afford to have the bund out of action for more than a day. The Solution  Our coating solution Armourchem satisfied all the clients’ requirements, being chemically resistant, seamless and tough. The fast-set properties of Armourchem meant that the coating could be walked on less than an hour and the bund was back in service the same day. The Outcome The Environment Agency were very satisfied with Armourchem as it complied with their requirements. On inspection in 2013, the Armourchem was still in excellent condition 10 years on.   Contact us

Flat Roof Waterproofing – Austin Reed

Projects
The Client: Austin Reed. The Problem: The existing silicone roofing system on this 6000m² roof had started to leak owing to general degradation and specific problems with bird attack. The Solution: With proper preparation and priming, Isothane EMA was proven to adhere well to the existing silicone layer. Local repairs were carried out and Isothane EMA applied with reinforcement to upstands. To provide additional protection the coating was blinded with slate granules while partially cured. The Outcome: Exceptionally tough and hard wearing roofing waterproofing with a highly aesthetic finish. Inspection after 10 years showed no deterioration of the roof waterproofing, with no bird damage.       Contact Us

Utilities Weatherproofing – Manchester

Projects
The Client: United Utilities. The Problem: Insulation required to 8 sludge digester tank tops, approximately 500m2 each, over a 3‐year period with each tank being made available at fairly short notice and at different times of the year, which resulted in some of the tanks being insulated in the winter months. This created the problem of the surface temperature frequently being below 5°C. Conventional spray foam insulation cannot be applied at these low temperatures. The Solution: After discussions with the Client and trials with the Specialist Applicator, Isothane designed a bespoke sprayed insulation system Thermadek WG that could be applied at temperatures below 5 Celsius. The Outcome: Isothane technical staff completed the product development of Thermadek WG in 3 days so that the project programme could be adhered to without…

Pitched Roof Stabilisation and Waterproofing – West Midlands

Projects
The Client: National Express The Problem: An asbestos cement roof above the client’s largest bus depot in the area had started to leak and on closer inspection it was discovered that the roof would need work structurally as well as being made watertight. The client needed a minimal disruption, cost effective alternative to replacing the whole roof as this could lead to site being closed for a period of time.   The Solution: The roof was stabilised and waterproofed using a two part solution. Firstly the roof was sprayed with one of our polyurethane foam products Duratherm® which secures the roof in place solving the stabilisation problem. The foam was then coated with Armourflex, a polyurea spray coating which waterproofed the roof to ensure no more water ingress. Because this was…
